Continuous use of your air conditioning helps prevent the build-up of mold and microbes inside the micro-filter. It also stops seals from becoming brittle, which can cause the refrigerant to leak. However, to keep your system operating at peak efficiency and avoid musty smells, the micro-filters should be maintained at regular intervals and the correct level of refrigerant gas should be checked and replaced.

If there are undesired odors when you switch on the engine, or when you adjust your air conditioning or temperature settings, or you notice a decrease in the amount of air-flow from your vents, then it may be necessary to replace the cabin filter.
